Introduction

Battle of the Sexes is a normal CTF (Capture The Flag) modification with a twist. When joining a new game, you would first join a team. The red team consists of the males, the blue team consists of the females. After you choose a team, you next must choose a class. There are 9 classes to Quake3 BSCTF (Battle of the Sexes CTF). Each class has their own weapon and their own role on the team. Some classes were made to defend the base/flag, some were made to command the team, some were made to attack the flag, etc. The main objective behind BSCTF is to defeat the other team by reaching the designated score limit or by having the most points when the time limit runs out. This can done in a few different ways depending on the map:

  1. Capture the other team's flag - Grab the opposite team's flag and take it back to your flag. Your flag must be present to score.
  2. Capture the flag on a goal - Grab the opposite team's flag and take it to the designated goal "pad" for your team.
  3. Capture the flag with a trigger - Grab the opposite team's flag and then push the designated button or switch.
  4. Destroy the other team's designated "goal" - There are no flags or capture pads. Find the "goal" of the other team. This could be a statue, a wall, a "power crystal", anything. The objection is to destroy the "goal" for points. There could be 1 goal, or many that must be destroyed in a sequence.
  5. Kill the Captain - There are no flags or capture pads. The only objective is to find the other team's captain and kill him/her for points.
Classes (brief descriptions):

Captain - The leader of the team. There can be only 1 captain per team. The captain wields the strongest weapon (BFG), has command over his team, and has the ability to "promote" his team. If the captain is killed, the other team gets a point.

Bodyguard - The bodyguard is mainly used for base defense, or for guarding the captain against attackers. He/She wields the Shotgun and has many gadgets like lasers and proximity grenades.

Sniper - The sniper is mainly used for base defense. He/She wields the railgun and can cloak (turn completely invisible) against walls.

Soldier - The soldier is an all around grunt. He/She is commonly used for both defense and offense. The soldier wields the rocket launcher.

Berzerker - The "zerker" is used for both offense and defense. He/She wields the "Super Gauntlet" and gets both an autoquad at certain timed intervals and the ability to run at an increased rate of speed for a short bit, called a "charge".

Infiltrator - The infiltrator is used for offense attacks against the other team's captain. With the ability to steal ammo and disguise as the other team, he/she can be a big threat to any confident captain. The infiltrator wields the Plasma Gun.

Kamikazee - The "kami" can be used for both offense or defense. The kami carries the grenade launcher and has many explosion tactics such as detonating grenades, exploding himself upon an enemy, and using the powerful, room clearing nuke.

Nurse - The nurse is mainly used for offense. Carrying nothing but the machinegun and a few special grenades, the nurse is relied upon to "poison" the other team's health and to heal his own team when needed.

Scientist - The scientist holds a powerful tool, in that he can upgrade any of the individual classes in vital areas: Speed, Jumping Ability, Health, Armor, Strength (ammo capacity), Weapon Firing Rate, and Weapon Damage. The Scientist gains "tech points" (what the scientist uses to upgrade the classes) by killing enemies, however, if he dies he gives a tech point to the opposition.

The Promoting Process:

Once your team scores, your captain is rewarded with a "promotion point". This point is stored on a "promotion key" that the captain can carry or drop in a safe place. While holding the promotion key, the captain can promote one of his player to a higher "level". As a member of the team, you start out as level 0. With 1 promotion point, the captain could promote you to level 1, giving you certain added abilities. If you wanted to get promoted to level 2, the captain would need 2 more promotion points, or the captain could take those 2 points, and promote 2 other people on his team to level 1. With each level you gain, you get stronger and you gain added abilities which make your class a little more crucial to the team. If the promotion key is "stolen" by a member of the opposite team while there are points stored on it, the team loses those points. The highest level you can be promoted to at this point is level 4.  More details can be learned by reading the Points and Scoring section.
